For 70 years, the world’s plastic usage has grown inexorably from humble beginnings to a position where humanity now produces roughly its own weight in plastic every year.
To combat this, a lot of people have started to reduce their plastic usage, whether it be through using reusable products such as bamboo toothbrushes, reusable/compostable coffee cups, or reusable shopping bags – to name a few. However, to actually take the step of completely cutting out plastic is another giant in itself, one which can take a lot of commitment and determination.
One such case is that of Sue Britton, an English woman living in New Zealand. Two years ago she made a new years resolution to give up plastic entirely, and granted has been “the hardest thing in the world”. But she hasn’t looked back.
There aren’t too many people that can do this, which makes Sue’s decision even more impressive and inspiring! Well done, Sue!
